Spring has Sprung!

These are growing wild in the backyard.

This is a flowering bush in the front garden. I don't know the name.

These sweet little things are growing wild on the side of the house.

Front porch eye candy.

Closeup of the wildflowers in the backyard.

I love this time of year. We wait quite awhile before cutting the grass so we don't destroy the flowers.

Crawfish Boil

We started the day off with Shrimp and Talapia Civiche made by Carlos Lagos (originally from Peru) and Pate and Brie Cheese brought by Mac and Consuelo. Everyone enjoyed the ramp up to the big event of the crawfish. We ate, we visited, we laughed, and we ate some more. The day was finished up with DeAnne, our sister-in-law, serving a fabulous dessert and Consuelo opening a beautiful bottle of limoncello.

Ray had a great time playing music and telling lies with the boys. All round, just a great time.
Attendees:
Cullen and DeAnne Coltrane
Mac and Consuelo Melhuish
Carlos and Liz Lagos
Gary Russo, Sr.
Josh Nettles
Ray and Lucy Coltrane

New Year's Eve Day 2008

Anneke Jennings, Mac and Consuelo, Ray and I met at El Mercado in downtown San Antonio for lunch. What a treat to see Anneke. Even though she and Lew live only about 3 hours away in Rockport, Texas, we just don't get to see them that much.

We had a lovely lunch, Mexican of course. Food was very good. Service was a bit lacking. Ambiance was colorful and tacky as all get out...fun!

The girls...Lucy, Consuelo, and Anneke

We were standing around talking for awhile nearby this fruit stand. So long that the keeper asked us to watch the stand for him while he went to the restroom. Anneke looks like she's ready to squeeze!
